About the painting:
I saw the sparrow along the back road in the Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge. He kept a wary eye on me as I watched him through binoculars.
The background is specked paint (applied with a stiff bristled brush) which gives the painting an added sense of depth. Note: I’ve experimented with the shadow and speckled paint on several paintings with great results. That’s the nature of an artist; to test new techniques and ideas.
